Our Storm Brakes
Johnson designs and manufactures a range of railway and rail mounted equipment products which ensure safety in the event of high winds or storms. Often referred to as Storm Brakes, the rail clamp models include rail head clamping and push down at the top of the rail. We also offer rail brakes which grip the actual wheels of the crane. Control systems for the Storm Brakes are offered in either hydraulic or electric versions.
Johnson rail clamps are offered in a variety of mounting arrangements including, Sill Beam, Truck End, and Flange mount. It is typical to have a rail clamp or rail brake control system on each side of the crane to prevent long hydraulic hose distances.
