Rail Clamps
Applications: Cranes, Winches, Storm Brakes, Ports, Steel Mills, Rail & Metro
Often referred to as Storm Brakes, Johnson Rail Clamps ensure safety in the event of high winds or storms by clamping directly onto the rail head. A variety of holding capacities are available, from 1,000 to 150,000 lb (4.4 kN to 667 kN), in truck-end, sill-beam, and flange mounted designs.
Control systems are offered in either hydraulic or electric versions, with power units available separate or integrated into the rail clamp enclosure. It is typical to have a rail clamp control system on each side of the crane to prevent long hydraulic hose runs.
Features and options: Custom mountings, coatings and materials, match-drilled mating flange, dust-tight or custom enclosures, and hand pumps for manual release.
