Bridge Industry

Movable bridges — bascule, swing, and lift bridges — rely on thruster drum brakes for spring-applied, electrically-released braking on both the machinery and motor sides. A typical installation pairs two brakes on each bridge leaf, with a NEMA 3R stainless steel enclosure, space heater with thermostat, brake release switch, brake set switch, hand release, and a lowering valve (time delay) in the thruster for adjustable brake setting time.

Options: Stainless steel brake drums/wheels from 6″ to 30″, chrome-plated wheels, corrosion protection (liquid nitride, zinc, nickel), stainless steel linings with a low friction coefficient, and flex-rigid couplings. Configurations available in electric, hydraulic, or pneumatic.
